Gary Wayne Avey, age 53 passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his residence in Sugar Grove, WV. Mr. Avey is the son of Thelma Louise Rexrode Watson of Charlestown,  WV. On May 13, 1978, he married Nola Jean Miller, who survives. He was an Iron Worker, a 1974 graduate of Franklin High School, a member of Local 568 United Iron Workers and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Mr. Avey is survived by: Two Sons, Kevin Dwayne Avey, Harrisonburg, VA and Robert Thomas Avey, Sugar Grove, WV; two Sisters, Terri A. Hedrick, Harrisonburg, VA and Sondra L. Risinger and husband Steve, Hedgesville, WV; a Brother, James William Watson and wife Shana, Charles Town, WV; two Grandchildren, Alek and Jacob Avey; and a Step Sister, Cherie Batzel and husband Galen, Ridgely, WV. Gary was preceded in death by his Step Father, Charles Joseph “Mike” Watson on February 17, 2006.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2009 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Pastor Kara Propst and Pastor Cindy Skinner will conduct funeral services on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
