Arthur “Art” Earl Thompson, age 74 of Seneca Rocks, WV passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Mr. Thompson was born in West Milford, WV, the son of the late Glenn and Rev. Bernadine Borham Thompson. On March 31, 1982, Art married Bernice Trent, who survives in Seneca Rocks, WV. Mr. Thompson's career in the butter business continued for 32 years, rising to General Manager of Borden's Dairy in Columbus, OH and later to Keller's Creamery in Harleysville, PA, where he co-managed plants in Louisville, KY and Somerset, PA. He retired in 1992 to make his home in West Virginia with his wife, Bernice. His hobbies included fishing for native trout and playing bluegrass gospel music. Art was a board member of Pendleton Community Care, Pendleton Senior Family Services, and Committee on Aging. Art's number one love was the Lord and the faith that he had, kept him. He attended the Riverside Church and was an Apostolic by faith. Mr. Thompson loved his pastor, Tommy George and the whole church family. He was a strong positive thinker and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed, but the better country he looked for, is finally his.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Thompson is survived by: 2 Step Sons, John William Markham, Sunbury, OH, Martin Ward Markham, Columbus, OH; 1 Sister, Cleo Murray, Akron, OH; a number of Grandchildren; 2 Special Nephews, Daniel & David McCardy, California. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: A Brother, Royce of Detroit, Michigan and a Sister, Cora Delight McCardy of Tulare, California.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2009 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Pastor Tommy George and Pastor Barbara Rexroad will conduct funeral servcies on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV. Memorials may be made to the Riverside Church or Gideons International.

I worked with Art for years at Keller's. We formed a great relationship and he was a dear man and friend. He will be missed.

I am so sorry not to have written before this. I received my copy of the PT with Art's obituary on the same day that I lost Tim. I know how hard these last months have been for you.
