Darl C. “Ted” Crites, age 80 of Dorcas, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, WV. Born November 24, 1929 in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Clinton Conway Crites and the late Wilda Wratchford Crites. Mr. Crites attended school at Steel Run Schoolhouse in Rig, WV. He was a member of the Rig Assembly of God. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Layde and USS Palau. He was a past commander of the #64 American Legion, Moorefield, WV and a member of Petersburg #6454 VFW.
Mr. Crites is survived by three sons: Greg Crites and wife Sharon, Lynchburg, VA, Grant Crites and wife Olga, Winchester, VA, Clint Crites and wife Abby, Old Fields, WV; three sisters, Ollie “Toodle” Mongold, Dorcas, Linda Sherman, Rig, Lucille Shupe, Moorefield; five brothers, Curtis Crites, Rig, Kenneth “Sonny” Crites, Norris “Junior” Crites, Virgil Crites, Garry Crites, all of Petersburg; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dedirea Allen; two brothers, Larry Crites and Carl Crites.
Pastor Brad Taylor will conduct services, Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Rig Assembly of God Church, Rig, at 3:00 p. m. Family will receive friends at the church prior to services from 1:00 p. m. until 3:00 p. m. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
