Evelyn Ellen Kessel, age 90 of Maysville, WV, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, WV. Born May 23, 1919 in Lahmansville, WV, she  was the daughter of the late Blaine W. and Lucy Hall Keplinger. She was married to Arlie W. Kessel, who preceded her in death July 3, 1983. Mrs. Kessel was a member of the Brick Church of the Brethren and attended the Knobley Road Schoolhouse, both in Maysville.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Kessel was preceded in death by two brothers: Glen and Virgil Keplinger; a sister, Eva Lahman; three infant sisters; two great-grandchildren. She is survived by: one daughter, Carolyn Lucy Gaither and husband Rick, Gormania, WV; four sons, William Junior Kessel and wife Gloria, Mt. Storm, WV; Dwight Allen Kessel and wife Janet, Ridgeley, WV; Donald Edward Kessel and wife Sharon, Mt. Storm; Aaron Seymour Kessel and wife Diana, Maysville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Robert Spaid will conduct services, Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 11:00 a. m. at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg. Burial will take place at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brick Church of the Brethren. Memories and words of comfort may be left for the family at www.basagic.com. Services are under the direction of the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg.
