Alonzo Junior "AJ" Carr, age 68, of Maysville, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born on November 19, 1950, the son of the late Alonzo Edward and Carolina Goldizen Carr. In 1972, AJ married Brenda Kay (Thorne) Carr, who survives in Maysville.

Mr. Carr was a 1970 graduate of Petersburg High School and had worked as a Boilermaker for Local #45 out of Richmond, VA, and had previously worked for VEPCO. He loved hunting, fishing, working, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Carr is survived by: a son, Duane Carr (Tiffany) of Maysville, WV; 4 sisters, Phyllis Cook (Darvin)of Maysville, WV, Patsy Bensenhaver (Clyde) of Rig, WV, Mary Alice Ours (Dale) of Cabins, WV, Ruth VanMeter (Donnie) of Upper Tract, WV; 3 brothers, Ray Carr (Hilda) of Arthur, WV, Roy Carr (Lois) of Seneca Rocks, WV, Lee Carr ( Sue) of Cabins, WV; and 4 grandchildren, Lonnie, Donnie, Kayda, and Frankie Carr.

Mr. Carr's family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2019, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Goldizen and Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating. Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
