Andrew "Andy"
Luke Eye
July 8, 1957 – February 8, 2022
Andrew (Andy) Luke Eye, age 64, of Fort Seybert passed away February 8, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born July 8, 1957 in Charleston, WV, the son of Dr. H. Luke Eye (Jane) and Elsie Peppel Eye. Andy married Beverly D. Hevener Eye on December 11, 1982 who survives in Fort Seybert.
Andy was a 1975 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Potomac State College where he was a member of the football team. He studied masonry at James Rumsey Technical Center in Martinsburg; Andy mastered his vocation specializing in block, brick, and especially stone masonry.
In addition to being a skilled stone mason, Andy was a contractor, chimney sweep, owner of Builder's Corner, a home inspector, and completed his career as the maintenance supervisor of Pendleton Manor.
His passion was football, shown by his nearly 30 years of coaching. Many young men were influenced by his unique style, knowledge of the game, and his personalized interaction with the players as demonstrated by creative nicknames, his quick wit, and his shrill whistle.
Andy learned to whistle distinctly through his teeth while waiting for the school bus as a youngster and used this talent to gather crowds and quickly get a group's attention.
He was a member and faithful attender of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Deer Run where he had served as Sunday school superintendent. His all-time favorite hymn was "Church in the Wildwood."
In addition to his wife, mother, and step mother, Andy leaves behind to cherish his memories: his 3 sons, Aaron (Jordan Stutzman), Seth (Laura), and Isaac; 3 sisters, Betsy Smith (Elwood), Suzanne Terschuren, Quana Mathews (Larry); two grandchildren Bruce and Lillian Eye; sister-in-law, Lois (Larry) Byers; brother-in-law, Johnny (Nicole) Hevener; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Andy was preceded in death by a nephew, Noah Terschuren.
Andy's family will receive friends Friday, February 11, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in (Deer Run) Franklin, WV, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating.
