Arvella R. Vandevander, 94, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. She was born on May 24, 1926, in Franklin, WV, the daughter of the late Mahlon and Mattie (Pitsenbarger) Lambert. Arvella married John Clarence Vandevander, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1982.

Mrs. Vandevander was a graduate of Franklin High School and a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church. She had worked for Cox's Department Store and retired from Hanover Shoe Company.

Mrs. Vandevander is survived by: a daughter-in-law, Sharon Vandevander of Lewisburg, WV; 2 grandchildren, David and Travis Vandevander; 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Larry John and Greg Mahlon Vandevander; a daughter, Sonja Lou Anderson; a brother, Charles Lambert; and 3 grandchildren, Christopher Wayne Anderson, Daniel Anderson, and Jason Vandevander.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, WV, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating.
