She sought employment at Hanover Shoe Factory and worked there for 20 years, until the factory closed and she was forced to retire. Barbara was known for being a hard worker and a taskmaster where work was concerned; everyone spoke highly of her diligence and work ethics.
Barbara registered for First Aid and Medic classes and after passing, joined the Franklin Volunteer Rescue Squad where she served as a volunteer for many years.
In the late 1990's Barbara relocated to Baltimore MD and subsequently to Dayton, Ohio. She became a member of the Maranatha Church and read her Bible diligently.
Barbara loved family- it was her life. She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara had some health challenges and was admitted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Ohio, where she passed away on July 16, 2020.
Barbara leaves to mourn children: David Parker (NY), Martin Parker (Ohio), Charles Maddox, (NC), Monique Maddox-Alston (Ohio), Richard Moats (VA) and Matthew Moats (MD); brother Jarrett Randy Moats (NJ), a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rodney E. Parker (October 1996) and Renee Alma Parker (February 1994) preceded their mother in death.
Barbara will be interred on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2:00pm at a graveside burial at the Moatstown Cemetery. Donations can be made payable to Basagic Funeral Home, POB 215, Franklin, Wv 26807 in memory of Barbara Parker.
