Betty Alice Bennett , age 102, of Riverton, WV, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. She was born on October 10, 1918, in Cherry Grove, WV, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Lena (Tingler) Vandevander. Betty married Delmer Bennett, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1990.

Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker and loving mother/grandmother and she had a passion for gardening. She was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church and had worked in the Baltimore Shipyards as a Rosie Riveter.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by: a daughter, Donna Hoover (Olin) of Brandywine, WV; 3 sons, Theodore Bennett (Janet) of Riverton, WV, Donald Bennett of Riverton, WV, Timmy Bennett of Franklin, WV; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-granchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Buzz, Willie and Virgil Vandevander; and 3 sisters, Sylvia Mae Thompson, Belva Bennett, and Dessie Sharp.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV, on Friday, December 11, 2020, after 9:00 AM, until the hour of service. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dan Powers officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton, WV.
