Betty Rose Flynn Nelson , age 83, a resident of Dayton, VA for the past 13 years, departed this life late afternoon on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. She was born on April 2, 1935 in Pendleton County, WV, a daughter of the late Gary and Elva Turner Flynn. On August 19, 1951, Betty married Burrell Nelson, who preceded her in death on September 19, 2012.

Betty was the last surviving sibling of her family. Surviving are: her son, Terry and wife Barbara of Valley Bend, WV; her granddaughter, Amber Nelson of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Dick and Gary Flynn; and 2 sisters, Jeanette Flynn and Bonnie Cook.

Betty and Burrell resided on Timber Ridge in Pendleton County for many years. Betty had attended Dixie one room school and she was a homemaker, who loved her flowers, mowed her lawn, help care for their sheep, and always had a huge garden. She and Burrell were fortunate enough to share over 60 years of marriage.

Betty's family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Earl Bible officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton, WV.
