Bryson "Joe" Shirk , age 82, of Petersburg, WV, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Western Maryland Health Systems in Cumberland, MD. He was born on June 6, 1936, in Smoke Hole, WV, the son of the late Ed and Amanda (Kimble) Shirk. In 1962, Bryson married Leta Mae (Nesselrodt) Shirk, who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Shirk attended Pendleton County Schools in Smoke Hole, was a Christian by Faith, and owned and operated Shirk's Plumbing and he used to do well drilling.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Shirk is survived by: 5 sons, Roger Shirk of Petersburg, WV, Rick Shirk (Peggy) of Petersburg, WV, Bryson Shirk, Jr. (Alice) of Petersburg, WV, Robert Shirk (Heidi) of Petersburg, WV, Brian Shirk (Heather) of Petersburg, WV; a brother, John Shirk of Arthur, WV; 5 half brothers, Olie Shirk of Moorefield, WV, Jack Shirk of Upper Tract, WV, Carl Shirk of Upper Tract, WV, Dale Shirk of Upper Tract, WV, Dave Shirk of Petersburg, WV; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a grandchild; 3 brothers, Burlin, Jim, Roger; 2 sisters, Rhoda Creamer, Betty Shirk; and a life long friend, Loren "Duge" Self.

Mr. Shirk's family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 6-8 PM, at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Steve Landis officiating.
