Buddy Lee Evick , age 76, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home. He was born on March 21, 1944, at the home place on Dickenson Mountain, Franklin, WV. On June 20, 1964, Buddy married Sharon Aline (Garber) Evick, who preceded him in death on September 15, 2008.
While living in Staunton, Fishersville, and Stuarts Draft, Buddy was employed at Lowes of Staunton and was a Machinist Tools and Dye Malooker for Nibco of Stuarts Draft. Buddy returned to Pendleton County in 1984, and opened Evick's Siding and Repair and B & F Builders. He retired in December of 2008.
Buddy enjoyed spending his time on the farm, cutting wood, running his heavy equipment and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church.
Buddy is survived by: a son, Fred Lawrence Evick (Donna) of Franklin, WV; 2 grandchildren, Sheldon Lee Evick and Jessica Evick-Hedrick (Jon), all of Franklin; 2 great-granddaughters, Jaylynn Anne and Jaycee Mae Hedrick; 2 sisters, Mary Keplinger of Newark, DE, Nina "Jody" Josephine Olkowski (Ed) of Wilmington, DE; and a sister-in-law, Alma Mae Mallow (Paul) of Franklin, WV; 3 brothers, Charles Bennie Evick (Mary Alice of Franklin, WV, Ernest Cody Evick (Helen) of Franklin, WV, and Richard Franklin Evick (Julia) of Harrisonburg, VA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, John A. and William Frederick Evick; 2 sisters, Norma Swadley and Etta Margaret Lambert; and a brother-in-law, Elwood "Steve" Keplinger.
Due to the pandemic, we are taking government recommendations into consideration and we encourage online expressions of sympathy to the family. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Evick Family Cemetery on Evick Mountain, Franklin, WV, with Pastor David Morris officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with family and friends. Memorials may be made to Franklin Rescue Squad, South Fork Fire Department, or Mountain Hospice.
