Calvin Clay
Richardson Jr.
October 12, 1944 – December 14, 2024
Calvin Clay Richardson, Jr., age 80, of Petersburg, WV and formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed away on December 14, 2024 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. He was born on October 12, 1944 in Lexington, KY, the son of the late Calvin Clay Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Richardson. On June 21, 1998 Calvin married his loving wife, Tammy Lynn (George) Richardson who preceded him in death on April 13, 2019.
Mr. Richardson graduated from La Fayette High School in Lexington, KY and was a Baptist in faith. Calvin served our country in the United States Navy and then began a career in home maintenance where he retired after 34 ½ years from Home Sales and Hill Management in Baltimore, MD. He was also a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Seattle, WA. Calvin was a hard worker with meticulous attention to detail. He continued to use his skills to help others including working at the Basagic Funeral Home, where he quickly became family. He enjoyed traveling and camping all over the United States with his wife Tammy and later with his dear friends and in-laws, Nancy and Joe Swick.
Calvin leaves behind to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Vivian Hickman (Raymond) of Yulee, FL; Ashley Otto (Mike) of Baltimore, MD; Roxane Kable (DJ) of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Phyllis Evans (Tom) of Newark, DE; 7 Grandchildren; and 9 Great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Richardson and a sister, Debbie Richardson.
Calvin's family will receive friends on Saturday, January 11, 2025, 11 AM – 1 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Nicol officiating. Inurnment will be at the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV. Military honors will be bestowed by the US Navy and the Grant County Veteran Honor Guard. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
