Carl Lewis "Sonny" Lambert, II , age 63 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 1, 1955, the son of Martha (Parker) Runions of Lahmansville, WV and the late Carl Lewis Lambert. On November 8, 1978, Sonny married his wife of 39 years, Teresa (Crites) Lambert who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Lambert graduated from Petersburg High School in 1973. He was a 20 year retired Warrant Officer of the United States Army. While in the Army he was stationed in Korea and in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as a Peacekeeper. After his military career he recently retired from Central Tie & Lumber in Petersburg after 21 years. Mr. Lambert was a Life member of the VFW Post #6454. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, as well as rooting for his favorite teams, the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by: 1 daughter, Christy Waskis (Nick) of Grant Town, WV; 1 son, Carl Lewis "Bubba" Lambert, III of Frostburg, MD; 1 sister, Denisa Flinn of Lahmansville; 3 brothers, Russell Lambert (Linda) of Petersburg, Eddie Lambert (Danita) of Lahmansville and Jamie Lambert of Moorefield; 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Justin and Waylon Waskis and his father-n-law, Norris "Junior" Crites of Petersburg. Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by 1 sister, Deborah Kauffman.

Mr. Lambert's family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home with Brad Taylor officiating. Interment will be at the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg with military honors by the US Army Honor Guard, Camp Dawson, WV and Potomac Highlands VFW #6454.
