Catherine (Cattie) George, age 78 of Glen Allen VA, passed away on Wednesday February 27th, 2019 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Richmond VA.  She was born on April 13th, 1940 in Petersburg WV, the daughter of the late William Hider and Mary Sue (Smith) Woods. She was previously married to Paul Victor George.

Ms. George attended school in Petersburg and attended church in Ashland, VA at the Ashland Church of God. Catty worked as a geriatric nurse in various nursing homes and always said she never thought she would be a patient herself.  She loved being a caregiver to all, including her grandson Nicholas who she helped raise.

Cattie is survived by: 1 daughter, Barbara George of Glen Allen; 1 son, Bruce George and wife, Debbie, of Ladysmith, VA; 2 grandsons, Jacob George of Ladysmith and Jessie Bruce of Bowling Green, VA;  2 granddaughters, Ashley George of Ladysmith and loving care giver April Turner of Glen Allen; 2 great grandchildren, Colten and Alivia George of Ladysmith; 1 sister, Linda Woods of Glen Allen and a brother, Thomas Woods of LaVale, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 1 son, Paul George Jr.; 1 grandson, Nicholas George; 5 brothers, William, Bobby, Clyde, Paul, and James Woods ; 4 sisters, Alice Turner, Pearl Alt, Betty Hinkle, Elizabeth Ketterman, and Lola Woods; and a son-in-law, Wayne Walker, II.

Mrs. George's family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 10:00-11:00am at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors, Thomas Woods, Jr, Danny Woods, and Ray Church officiating.
