Charles Alton Mitchell , age 74, of McGaheysville, VA, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1951, in Shamrock, TX, the son of the late Sammie Hawley and the late Raymond Curtis and Ruby Belle (Dollars) Mitchell. On October 24, 1987, Charles married Camela Dawn (Wagoner) Mitchell, who survives in McGaheysville.

Charles attended Montevideo High School and was a devout Christian. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, ginsenging and trapping. Charles had a loving nature and he especially enjoyed horses and cats.

In addition to his wife, Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Tina Hoover; 2 God Daughters, Cassandra Kile of Morgantown, WV and Kathleen (Kile) Gudman (Robert) of Staunton, VA; a sister, Candy Reiver (Gene) of California; brother, Raymond "Curtis" Mitchell (Susan) of Jane Lew, WV; a sister-in-law, Betty Mitchell of Bridgewater, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Jerry Mitchell, Jr.

Charles' family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Sam Sponaugle officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract, WV.
