Charles Reid Murphy Sr , age 84, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. He was born on March 8, 1938, in Franklin, WV, the son of the late Cletus and Iva (Kiser) Murphy. Reid was married to the mother of his children, Twila (Alexander) Walker of Franklin, WV and he was preceded in death by his second wife, Arrawana Maze.

Reid attended Franklin High School and retired as a parts and sales manager from Hevener Motor Equipment after working from 1964-1990. He had also worked for two years at Hevener Implement in Harrisonburg, VA. Reid had a passion for tractor pulling, WVU sports, Duke Blue Devils Basketball, and the Green Bay Packers. He was an honorary member of the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department.

Reid leaves behind to cherish his memory: 3 sons, Bobby Murphy of Franklin, WV, Johnny Murphy of Franklin, WV, and Scott Murphy of Three Forks, MT; 5 grandchildren, James Michael, Dewayne, Tiffany, Connor, and Noah Murphy; and 2 great-grandchildren, Mayson and Kaden. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: a son, Charles Reid Murphy, Jr.; a grandson, Colton Murphy; and an infant sister.

Reid's family will receive friends on Sunday, March 27, 2022, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Rob Borror officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
