Charles Junior Raines , age 82 of Circleville, WV, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. He was born on March 23, 1936, in Riverton, WV, the son of the late Curtis Edward Raines and Grace Elizabeth Bland. On June 14, 1957, Charles married his hometown sweetheart, Phyllis Sue (Phares) Raines, who survives in Circleville.
Mr. Raines was a 1955 graduate of Circleville High School. He was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church, a former member of the Circleville Fire Department and Spruce Knob Ruritan Club. He had worked as an apprentice cabinet maker with the Union. and for Ruddle Trucking, and he retired from Hinkle Trucking. Charles was a US Navy Veteran.
Charles loved his children and "grands". He was a self made man who succeeded in whatever he set out to do. He was very proud of the family and the success in life they all achieved. His greatest love was for God. He shared his faith with who ever he could. He had a special interest in scriptures that pertained to the end of times.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Raines is survived by: 2 daughters, Kathy Smith and husband Lysle of Riverton, WV, Laura Nelson of Petersburg, WV; 2 sons, Doug Raines and wife Cindy of Hedgesville, WV, William Raines of Inwood, WV; 11 grandchildren, Andrea Wyatt, Isaiah Smith, Lindsey Thompson, Bardon Nelson, Zachary Smith, Clay Raines, Chloe Butts, Kady Raines, Cate Raines, Daniel Raines, Carson Raines; 9 great-grandchildren, Linley Wyatt, Brennan Wyatt, Karissa Raines, Cameron Wyatt, Jacey Thompson Jacob Lee Thompson, Sterling Raines, John Carson Smith, and Anne Kathryn Smith; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bennett of Petersburg; and 4 nephews, Andrew Bennett of Fredericksburg, VA, John Zacot of Hanover, PA, David Zacot of Mount Delbieu, TX, Robert Zacot of Anna, TX; and a niece, Sarah Fish of Coolville, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a grandson, Brandan; a daughter, Debbie; and a brother, Paul William.
Mr. Raines' family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 6-8 PM at The North Fork Baptist Church. Funeral services will be on Wednesday July 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the chuch with Rev. Roger Gorby and Rev. Mark McAllister officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton, with Military Honors conducted by Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to CHS Preservation Fund, Circleville Fire Department, or to the donor's choice.
