Charles Edward "Charlie" Reed, age 81, of Cabins, WV and formerly lived in Harrisonburg, VA, was welcomed into the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center, Petersburg, WV.  Charlie was born on November 4, 1943 in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late Arnold Moyers and Murnie Reed.  Charlie was preceded in death by his companion of over 42 years, Genevieve Simmons.

Mr. Reed attended school in Petersburg, WV and had worked for various turkey and poultry factories in Harrisonburg, VA. Charlie embraced every moment he had in life with a smile and positive attitude.  He found pleasure in fishing and taking many road trips, including his favorite place, Cooter's Place in Luray, VA.   His family had a special place in his heart, including his beloved dog, Bear.

Charlie is survived by: 2 sisters, Louisa J. Pennington of Cabins, WV; Bernadine M. Moyers of Cabins, WV; 2 brothers, Daniel W. Moyers (Jean) of Scherr, WV; Robert W. Moyers (Hilda) of Maysville, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Johnny L. and Alvin R. Moyers; a brother-in-law, Richard M. Pennington; and 2 sister-in-law's, Linda and Shirley Moyers.

Charlie's family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2025, 1-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating.  Inurnment will be at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, WV.  Memorials may be made to the family c/o the Basagic Funeral Home, POB 400 Petersburg, WV 26847.  Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com .
