Clara Johanna Nelson, age 87, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Louisa Health and Rehab Center in Louisa, VA. She was born on August 12, 1934, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Kaniecki) Skotarski. Clara married Robert Jennings "Bob" Nelson, who preceded her in death.

Clara attended school in Baltimore. She was raised in the Catholic Church and had attended North Fork Church of the Brethren. She had worked at the Sewing Factory and was a homemaker. Clara's passion was spending time with her family.

Clara leaves behind to cherish her memory: a son, Robert J. Nelson of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Joella Allen of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Dorothy Freeman of Baltimore, MD; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: 2 sons, William and Charles "Chuck" Nelson; a daughter, Darlene Cox; a brother, Junior; a sister, Margaret; and 2 grandsons, Jason and Johnnie Nelson.

Clara's family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2022, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Ezik Norris officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV.
