Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the passing of Clement J. Rader, aged 94 and Greta C. (Churan) Rader, aged 90, is announced. Clement passed away on April 30, 2024, and Greta, on December 24, 2024.

Clement J. Rader was born April 4, 1930, in Sugar Grove West Virgina to the late Clement W. Rader and Margie T. (Judy) Rader and preceded in death by siblings Philip (Everette), infant sister, Lucy Caroline, Edwin, and Naomi (Ruth). He graduated from Franklin High School in 1948 and went on to Capital University in Columbus Ohio where he graduated in 1952. Thereafter, he attended Lutheran Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1958 and served as Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pulaski Va., from 1958-1960. He was commissioned First Lt. in 1960, Chaplain in the USAF Reserves and retired from the US Air Force, Lt. Col., in 1990. He also served as the Executive Director of Children's Home Society, Broward County Fl., from 1967 until 1994.

Greta C. (Churan) Rader was born March 6, 1934, in Columbiana Ohio to the late George H. Churan Sr. and Mary L. (Shearer) Churan and preceded in death by brother George H. Churan Jr. She graduated from Edison High School, Miami, Fl., in 1952 and attended Capital University in Columbus Ohio afterwards. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker dedicated to creating a loving, warm and stable home for her family. In 1987 after raising her sons, she went to work for the Board of Realtors of Broward County, Fl. until 2014.

Clement and Greta met at Capital University and married on June 14, 1957, in Harrisonburg, Va. They made their home in South Florida and were married over 66 years.

Clement will be remembered as a man with a servant's heart, quiet strength and unwavering faith who lived a life defined by kindness, integrity and deep devotion to his family, community and country.

Greta was a radiant presence full of grace, compassion and generosity whose warmth and kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

They are survived by Clement's brother Willard (Judy), sons William (Charleen) and John, grandchildren Olivia and Max, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Their memory will forever live on in the hearts of family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in their lives.
