Clifton Eldon "C.E." Rogers , age 87, of Old Fields, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Hubbard House in Charleston, WV. He was born on July 29, 1934, in Keyser, WV, the son of the late Rev. Lowell and Rhoda (McDowell) Rogers. Cliff was preceded in death by his 2 nd wife, Arbutus Snow See Rogers and his lifetime partner Doris Martin, left to honor his memory is his 1 st wife, Shirley Berg Schaefer of Archdale, NC. He was also preceded in death by his "biker buddy and riding partner", Chopper.
CE was a 1952 graduate of Keyser High School and he retired from Hardy County Board of Education as a Bus Driver after 27 years. He was also a self-employed logger and trucker and had worked for G.P. Regester. Cliff owned and operated his motorcycle shop, CE's Place for 40 years and he was President and founder of CE's Helping Hands Motorcyle Group. Because of Cliff's efforts after the flood of 1985, he was awarded by the WV Governor's Office, the Distinguished West Virginian Award, a certificate of appreciation by the American Legion and a certificate of honor and heroism by the WV Advocate.
Cliff leaves behind to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Tammy Young of Kingsport, TN, Lisa Taylor (Albert) of Greenville, GA, Jodee Cullers (Matt) of Arthur, WV; 3 sons, Greg Rogers (Bonnie) of Old Fields, WV, Roy Rogers (Heidi) of Old Fields, WV, Aaron Curry (Brandy) of Kirby, WV; and loving family and extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, wife, partner, and biker buddy, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Delmar Rogers; and 2 sisters, Vivian Webb and Louise Cannon.
Cliff's family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Brad Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, WV. The family invites any motorcycle rider to join CE's Helping Hands motorcycle group in honoring and escorting CE on his last ride to the cemetery.
