Clyde D. "Gus" Bensenhaver, age 82 , of Rig Road, Moorefield, WV , passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. He was born on September 4, 1940, the son of the late Charles and Eula (Halterman) Bensenhaver.  On September 19, 2000, Gus married Patsy (Carr) Berg Bensenhaver, who survives in Moorefield.

Mr. Bensenhaver was a graduate of Moorefield High School, a member of the Oakdale Presbyterian Church and a Veteran of the US Army, serving in the Vietnam War.  Gus was a member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post #6454, Moorefield American Legion Post #64, the Forty and Eight Club of Romney, WV, and the 15 ^th Medical Battalion and 1 ^{s t} Cavalry Division Association.  He had worked for Glovers Auto in Petersburg, the WV State ABC Store in Moorefield, and retired from Wompler Foods in Moorefield, as a Security Guard.  Gus loved hunting and fishing, however fishing was his favorite. He also enjoyed reunions with his military friends and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Gus leaves behind to cherish his memories: 2 daughters, Cindy Fansler (Brad) of Bruceton Mills, WV, Tina Sites (Jerry Urie) of Moorefield, WV; 3 sisters, Patsy Riggleman of Moorefield, WV, Nancy Brecher of Kyle TX, Helen Rohrbaugh (Randy) of Maysville, WV; 3 brothers, Dr. Dewey Bensenhaver (Jane) of Petersburg, WV, Donnie Bensenhaver of Petersburg, Charles Bensenhaver II of Louisville, KY; 4 grandsons, Parker, Dakota, Hunter, Trad; 2 Granddaughters, Shawna, Makenzie; a Great-Granddaughter on the way; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew, Hazel Bensenhaver and Bentley Cook.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Doug Bensenhaver; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth "Sis" Barr and Mary Hines.

Mr. Bensenhaver's family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2022, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brad Taylor officiating.  Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV with military honors conducted by the US Army and Grant County Veteran Honor Guard.  Memorials may be made to the family c/o Patsy Bensenhaver at 3677 Rig Rd.
