Corey Michael Simmons , age 25, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Franklin, WV, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on December 27, 1993, in Harrisonburg, VA, the son of Michael and Robin (Hoops) Simmons.

Corey was a 2012 graduate of Pendleton County High School and had attended Glenville State College. He was a member of Franklin Moose Lodge #769. Corey had a passion for basketball, football, baseball, WVU Mountaineers, and fishing. He had worked as a lifeguard for 5 years at the Franklin Pool and was recently employed at Walmart Distributuion.

In addition to his parents, Corey is survived by: a sister, Caylie Simmons of Franklin, WV; his grandparents, Jack and Sharon Simmons, Bob and Doris Hoops, Patricia Welch; a great grandmother, Violet Kimble; his friend and companion, Taylor Crawford of Harrisonburg, VA; aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.

Corey's family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2019, 1-3 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sam Harper officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV.
