Dorothy Elaine "Dot" (Campbell) Brown , age 97 of Franklin, WV, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at her home in Franklin. She was born on January 23, 1929, in Hot Springs, VA, the daughter of the late Elmo Edward and Ernestine Elizabeth (Corbett) Campbell. On April 28, 1951, Dot married E. Hadley Brown, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2017.
Dot graduated from Bath County High School. She owned and operated The Fashion Shop in Franklin, where she sold ladies clothing and fabrics. Dot was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #138, and the Garden Club. She enjoyed the window decorations during festivals in Franklin.
Dot leaves behind to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Barbara Key of Franklin, WV, Luci Brown of Soldotna, AK; a son, Eugene H. "Gene" Brown (Victoria Lynn) of Midlothian, VA; a sister, Nancy Grogg of Harrisonburg, VA; a son-in-law, David Jones of Spartan, WI; a God Son, William Hardy of Franklin, WV; 6 grandchildren, Rocky Garcia, Evie Brown, Jordan Brown, John Key, Judith Key, Bryn Brown; 4 great-grandchildren, Cy, Castin, Hudson, Cash; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Christine Jones; a grandson, Elliott Brown; a son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Key; 2 brothers, Denny and Buster Campbell; and 3 sisters, Carol Propst, Isabelle Bowers, and Ellen Shank.
Dot's family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, 1-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A service of remembrance will be conducted by OES #138 will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel and funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Jay Linaburg. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin, WV. Memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
