Dottie (Harman) Roy, age 89, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center.   She was born on June 26, 1934, at Seneca Rocks, WV, the youngest daughter of the late Ivan and Gae (Vance) Harman.  She graduated from Circleville High School in 1952 and soon married her husband of 71 years, Herbert Howard Roy.  The couple then moved to Maryland where she worked as a secretary at High Point High School and Howard as the carpenter for the Washington Star.

West Virginia pulled them home and Dottie became an EPSDT Specialist for the State DHHR while Howard taught carpentry at the South Branch Career and Technical Center.  When she retired, she continued to work part-time at the Grant County Health Department as an Office Assistant.

Dottie was a member of the Dixie CEOS and in 2005, she was selected as the Pendleton County Belle for the West Virginia Folk Festival in Glenville, WV.  Right up until the end of her life, she was a staunch member of the Pendleton County Republican Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband (January 17, 2023) and her two sisters, Mary Louise Bowers and Juanita O'Neil Clutter.

Dottie is survived by: a son, Kevin Howard Roy and his wife, Angel, of Seneca Rocks, WV; a brother, John Verzich (Kathy) of Riverton, WV; 2 Grandchildren; Jamie Roy (Kim) and Rachelle Roy; 3 Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kole, and Brynn.  In addition to her family, two special friends, Mary Hawk and Carol Breen also survive Dottie.

In honoring Dottie's wishes, her body will be cremated and a private service will be held later.  Memorials in honor of Dottie can be made to the North Fork Memorial Cemetery c/o Jack Bennett 390 Harper Gap Rd.
