Durwood Earl May , age 93, of Ft. Seybert, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home. He was born on February 14, 1928, in Ft. Seybert, WV, the son of the late George F. and Bessie V. (Eye) May. On April 28, 1950, Durwood married his wife of 71 years, Betty Jane (Conrad) May, who survives at Ft. Seybert.

Mr. May was a 1945 graduate of Franklin High School and he attended Fairview Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong farmer, having taken over the responsibility of the family farm when he was 17 years old, following the sudden death of his father. Durwood had a passion for hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and bowling.

In addition to his wife, Mr. May is survived by: a daughter, Mary Beth May of Ft. Seybert, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, John Franklin May (January 14, 2008); a brother, Conway May; and 2 sisters, Maxine Dahmer and Violet Mumbert.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 26, 2021, 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery in Ft. Seybert, WV, with Pastor Judy Vetter officiating.
