Obituary

Earl (Buzz) Hedrick , age 85 of Riverton, WV, passed away at home on Friday, March 12, 2021. Earl was born on March 19th, 1935 in Dry Fork, WV, the son of the late Homer and Nela (Phares) Hedrick.

On August 13, 1955 Earl married Helen Louise Luzier, and raised a family of five children in Manassas, VA, before moving back home to Riverton, WV, with his wife and two sons in 1981.

Earl graduated from Circleville High School in 1954 and became quite the businessman and entrepreneur. In 1962 he started his own construction company, Hedrick's Roofing & Siding and within a few years established his own retail building supply, Gainesville Building Supply.

Not long after his move to Riverton, he purchased and ran the Seneca Caverns for several years before building Riverton's branch of the Grant County Bank in 1991 and in 1993 he built the River Mart convenience store.

Earl's passion was fishing, but he also loved interacting with people and believed in supporting his community. While in Manassas he was an avid member of the Lions Club and before his battle with Parkinson's Disease took hold, he was a member of the Ruritan Club and held a seat on the board at Grant County Bank and Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone Company. Whenever someone mentions his name it is always followed by…he was one of the BEST men I've ever known!

In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by: 3 daughters, Janet Cox and husband Bill of Madison, WI, Kathy Hedrick of Fairfax, VA, Karen Fisher and husband Rick of Petersburg, WV; 2 sons, Darin Hedrick and fiancé Tina Ketterman of Petersburg, WV and Dennis Hedrick of Riverton, WV; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Hedrick of Seneca, WV, Bill Hedrick of Cortland, OH; 2 sisters, Lorena Hedrick of Petersburg, WV and Boots Hartman of Seneca, WV. Earl was predeceased by his brother, Jake Hedrick and sister, Avanell Hinkle and sister Wilda Bland.
