Elizabeth McPhillips, age 94, Riverton, WV, formerly of Lake County, Ohio, passed away on August 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Riverton. She was born on November 22, 1928, in Star Junction, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Seni) Kurvc.

Elizabeth was born to a coal mining family and was the youngest and last surviving sibling of 6. She had worked as a secretary for a hospital while raising her four children. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, sewing, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She loved living in West Virginia where there is nothing like the glorious mountain views.

Elizabeth leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Karen Speece (Robert) of Riverton, WV; a son, Daniel Shipek (Caren) of Blairsville, GA; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her two husbands, Joseph Shipek (1992) and James McPhillips (2012); and 2 sons, Joseph Shipek, Sr. (2005) and David Shipek (2002).
