Ernest Edwin Bergdoll , age 86, of Waldorf, MD, formerly of Petersburg, WV, passed away on October 1, 2024, in Waldorf. Born on January 25, 1938, in Upper Tract, WV, he was the son of the late Arlie Edwin and Ina M. (Lough) Bergdoll.

Ernest was a devoted husband to Frances K. (Bland) Bergdoll, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of Waldorf, MD; a sister, Catherine Werstein of Petersburg, WV; a brother, Joseph Bergdoll (Shirley) of Petersburg, WV; a nephew, Jason Bergdoll of Petersburg, WV; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Crystal Dawn Bergdoll, and nephew, Joshua Bergdoll.

Ernest was a 1956 graduate of Petersburg High School and attended West Virginia University. He was a member of the Hedrick Chapel Church in Rough Run, WV. His career included work at the Heron Window and Door Company in Mclean, VA, and he retired from Safeway Foods as a forklift operator after 38 years of dedicated service.

Ernest's family will receive friends on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 10-11 AM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor P.J. Landis officiating. Interment will be in the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV.

Ernest was a hardworking man who enjoyed life and loved his family, who will always cherish his memory.
