Ernest William Wratchford, age 74, of Petersburg, WV, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born on January 25, 1947 in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late Carl Gilbert Wratchford and Mary Jo Catherine (Southerly) Wratchford. On August 16, 1975, Ernest married Rhoda Marie (Whetzel) Wratchford, who survives in Petersburg.

Mr. Wratchford attended school in Petersburg and was a member of the Petersburg Southern Baptist Church. He retired from Allegheny Wood Products and had previously worked at Perdue, Advantage Foods, and Kessel Lumber Company, as well as with his brothers at Wratchford Painting. Ernest was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to share the outdoors with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Ernest leaves behind to cherish his memories: a daughter, Michelle Dolly (Tom) of Petersburg, WV; a son, Ernest E. Wratchford (Elaine) of Petersburg, WV; 3 sisters, Phyllis Warner of Capon Bridge, WV; Shirley Ketterman of Petersburg, WV; Delphia Cullers (Buddy) of Moorefield, WV; 4 brothers, Larry Wratchford (Rose) of Petersburg,WV; Calvin Wratchford (Brenda) of Petersburg, WV; Steve Wratchford (Wanda) of Moorefield, WV; Elvin Wratchford (Sharon) of Moorefield, WV; 7 grandchildren, Austin, Daniel, James, Jacob, Michelle, Jessica, and Isaiah; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: an infant child, 2 brothers; Donald G. Wratchford; Lester Wratchford; 2 sisters; Irene Ketterman; infant, Lucile Wratchford; and an infant grandchild.

Mr. Wratchford's family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, from 5-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Allen Friel officiating. Interment will be at the Nesselrodt Family Cemetery in Landes, WV.
