Evelyn Vazquez Rivera, age 72, of Petersburg, WV, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was born February 9, 1949 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Francisco Hernandez Baez and Eustacia Rivera Figueroa.

Ms. Rivera attended a Catholic Church in San Juan. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Evelyn loved God, her family and especially her grandchildren.

Ms. Rivera is survived by: 2 sons, Hector Nieves Vazquez and wife, Lori, of Petersburg and Jose Luis Nieves Vazquez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; 1 brother, Carlos Fontanez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; 3 grandchildren, Dylan Lewis, William Lewis and Kareem Lewis Nieves and 2 great-grandchildren, Tyson Lewis and Adalayah Lewis. In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by: an infant daughter, 1 brother, Francisco Hernandez Jr. and an infant grandson.

Per Ms. Rivera's request her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Grove Street United Methodist Church on 11 North Grove St., Petersburg, WV, with Rev.
