Everett Paul Puffenbarger, age 95, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV, where he received excellent care. He was born on June 13, 1931, on Dry Run, WV, the son of the late Lester and Virginia Margaret (Rexrode) Puffenbarger. Everett married Betty Jo (Kiser) Puffenbarger, who preceded him in death on October 8, 1995.

EP attended a one-room school through the eighth grade on Dry Run known as Mitchell Schoolhouse. He completed his education with his mother in Burlington, WV where she was a teacher.

Mr. Puffenbarger was known to many as “EP” or “Puff.” His life was marked by his faith and his connection to his church community. He attended Christ Central Church in Upper Tract, WV, and he made donations to John Hagee and Charles Stanley Christian Ministries, reflecting a quiet generosity and a commitment to helping others. EP was a Veteran of the US Air Force.

Mr. Puffenbarger was a very successful business man and excelled in the insurance industry and retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company, where he took great pride in his career as it paved his way through life. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed farming with his son, hiking, collecting rocks, taking long walks and traveling.

Puffenbarger leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Diana Jo Cottrell of Fishers, IN; 5 grandchildren, Haley Puffenbarger, Elijah Puffenbarger, Courtney Mueller, Brad Luschinski, and Amanda Luschinski; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Alan Joe Puffenbarger (7-29-2020); and a brother, Harold.
