Obituary

Forrest Gary Rodgers, Sr., age 69, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at his residence. He was born on February 20, 1950, in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late Edwin Nowely and Ethel Virginia (Pratt) Rodgers. Forrest was married to Virginia F. (Borror) Rodgers, who survives in Upper Tract, WV.

Mr. Rodgers attended Grant County Schools and graduated from Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, PA. He owned and operated his own construction business, where he was instrumental in building/reconstructing Clinton Hedrick Community Center, Living Faith Church, Franklin Great Valu, Franklin Library, Rite Aid, Family Dollar, and the Potomac Valley Rec Center. Forrest was a member of the Church of God and attended Living Faith Church in Franklin.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by: 2 sons, Tim C. Rodgers of Upper Tract (Kim McClung Grace of Franklin, WV), Forrest G. "Fred" Rodgers, Jr. (Lisa) of Franklin, WV; 3 sisters, Patricia A. Slifer of Spavinaw, OK, Mary Hedrick (Foster) of Maysville, WV, Martha Alt (Denton) of Upper Tract, WV; 6 brothers, Dallas E. Rodgers of Washington, DC, Clayton D. Rodgers of Petersburg, WV, Robert W. Rodgers (Robin) of Baltimore, MD, Richard Rodgers (Tammy) of Petersburg, WV, Dawn G. Rodgers (Amanda) of Moorefield, WV, Douglas B. Rodgers of Augusta, WV; 5 grandchildren, Riley L., Bailey H., Tanner L., Sam, and Amber Rodgers; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Samuel H. Rodgers; a sister, Laura J. Kemp; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and 2 step brothers..

Following his wishes, Forrest's body has been cremated. Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2019, 1-2 PM at the Landes Ruritan Center in Petersburg, WV. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Brad Mitchell officiating. Memorials may be made to Grant Hospice.
