Freddie C. Hammer , age 75 of Shepherdstown, WV, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was born in Harrisonburg, VA, on February 23, 1948, the son of the late Junius Clarence "June" and Shirley Bly (Taylor) Hammer.

Freddie was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School and obtained a BA Degree in Education from Shepherd College. He attended Franklin Presbyterian Church. He loved carpentry and he owned and operated his own wood shop. Freddie had worked at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg and retired after 40 years of service as a head of the maintenance department from Shepherd University.

Freddie leaves behind to cherish his memory: 2 sisters, Sherry Wilfong of Sugar Grove, WV, Kitty Waggy (Curtis Jr.) of Franklin, WV; a brother, JC Hammer (Betsy) of Franklin, WV; a niece, Heather Aumann; 2 nephews, Allen Wilfong, Thomas Hammer; 1 great-niece, Wyndsor Aumann; and 1 great-nephew, Beckett Aumann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Terry Scott Hammer; a brother-in-law, David Wilfong; and 2 sisters-in-law, Janet Hammer and Margaret Hartman.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, WV, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will follow.
