Freddy Gilbert Nelson , age 87, of Circleville, WV, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. He was born in Circleville, WV, on February 11, 1932, the son of the late Virgil and Audrey (Mullenax) Nelson. On December 24, 1957, Freddy married Jeanine Mullenax Nelson, who survives in Circleville.

Mr. Nelson enjoyed woodworking and building chests, chairs, rockers, and he loved to whittle. He was a Veteran of the US Army and had served from 1953-1955. He had worked as a logger and a farmer.

In addition to his wife, Freddy is survived by: a son, Bruce Nelson (Anita) of Seneca Rocks, WV; 2 sisters, Sylvia Jean Armstrong of VA, Ethel Mae Delucca of PA; a brother Berlie Nelson (Rhea) of PA; 3 grandsons, Kevin Nelson (Tara), Jonathan Nelson (Melissa), and Aaron Nelson (Melissa); and 5 great-grandchildren, Denver Nelson, Garrett and Baylee Nelson, Liam Nelson, and Brody Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert, and a great-grandson, Jaxon Hunter Nelson.

Mr. Nelson's family will receive friends on Wednesday, April17, 2019, 10-11 AM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Cindi Skinner officiating. Interment will be the Nelson Family Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard and Representatives of Camp Dawson, Nelson Gap, Circleville, WV.
