Garland Eugene Mullenax , age 95, of 1410 A North Augusta Street, Staunton. VA formerly of Cherry Grove, West Virginia was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2018 completely surrounded by his family to begin his journey.
He was born June 8, 1923 at Circleville WVa, a son of the late Jennifer and Iscie Mullenax.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gae Mullenax for more than 72 years and a brother, Paul Mullenax, sisters Geneviene Arbogast and Arlene Thompson Rodriguez-Berriz.
He served for 65 years as secretary of the Sunday school of the Circleville United Methodist Church and a life time Trustee member for 55 years. He was an active member of the Ruritan Club for 65 years. He served as President for the club, was District Governor of WVa. , served a term on the Ruritan National board and was awarded the District Man of the Year for two terms. He was active member of the North Fork Health Clinic and a charter member of the Circleville Fire Company. He also served on the board of Education for two terms and served on the revising board of the Grant County Bank for 25 years.
He served God and shared his love with his family and friends. He loved his community and he believed in helping everyone.
Before retiring as a contractor and logger of 30 years, he was a woodman foreman before going into business for himself. He was honored with an award to recognize him as the #1 Logger of the Year for West Virginia.
He was a loving and devoted father to his surviving children, Harlan Mullenax of Staunton and daughter Elnora Hazlett and her husband Richard Hazlett of Staunton VA, two grandchildren, William (Bill) Mullenax of Maryland and Kevin Hazlett and his wife Lori of Fishersville, Va. two Great-grandchildren Cody Hazlett and Mckenzie Hazlett, two Great- Great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Aurora Grace Hazlett.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin WV. Saturday, July 7 at 11:00 am and officiated by the Rev. Earl Bible and interment at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, West Virginia. The Family will receive friends on Friday, July 6 between 6-8 pm at Basagic Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin and Cody Hazlett, William (Bill) Mullenax, Charlie Heavener, Steven and Blair Arbogast, Keith Shreve, and Don Judy.
Honorary pallbearers will be the member of the North Fork Ruritan Club.
