Grayson Earl Murphy , age 80, of Cabins, WV, formerly of Franklin, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. He was born on February 5, 1939, in Franklin, WV, the son of the late Earl Newton and Dora Belle (Hartman) Murphy. Grayson was married to Julia Blaylock of Manassas, VA and to Patsy Fitzgerald Dunbrack of Verona, VA.
Mr. Murphy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Petersburg, WV. He had worked at Hanover Shoe Company in Management and he had owned and operated Grayson's Tax Service. Grayson was a Veteran of the US Amry.
Mr. Murphy is survived by: 3 daughters, Delilah Lynn Murphy of Lewisville, TX, Shawna Lambert (Patrick) of Verona, VA, Gretchen Ours (Randall) of Cabins, WV; 3 sons, Jeffrey Murphy (Cherie) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lonnie Mullins (Dawn) of Clarkston MI, Justin Murphy of Frankln, WV; a sister, Lois Huffman (Wayne) of Ft. Seybert, WV; and 11 grandchildren, Grace Lambert, Martha Lambert, Clara Lambert, Olivia Lambert, Lily Heavener, Hunter Heavener, Katherine Ours, Thomas Matthew Ours, John D. Mullins, Kaylee Mullins, and Cary Ours: and a great-grandchilld, Maggie Murray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Grayson Murphy, Jr. (1968); and a brother, Gerald Murphy.
Mr. Murphys' family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2019, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 6, 2019 at The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Franklin at 11:00 AM, with Bishop Richard Whetzel officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, with Military Honors conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard and representatives from Camp Dawson. Memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints in Petersburg or Franklin.
