Guy Glenn Bland, age 95, of Riverton, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV. He was born on October 9, 1923, in Riverton, the son of the late Kenny J. Bland and Annie Roonie Vandevander Bland.

Guy was a 1944 graduate of Circleville High School and he enlisted in the service as a young man and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. He worked in Ohio and Maryland and for the WV Department of Highways. He was a Custodian with Pendleton County Schools from 1972-1988, where he worked at Circleville School and Seneca Rocks Elementary School until his retirement. Guy attended Solomon's Chapel United Brethren Church in Riverton and he was a dedicated Farmer.

Mr. Bland was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Louise "Louie" Loyd Bland, on December 10, 2015. They were joined in marriage on April 16, 1955.

Guy is survived by: 2 daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Hedrick of Circleville and Dorothy Smith (Danny Hicks) of Buckhannon, WV; 1 son, Robert (Bob) Reel and wife Sandra of Morgantown, WV; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Burns (Nicholas Ault) of Petersburg, WV, who he raised, Susan Burr (Jammie Wamsley) of Tallmansville, WV, Joshua Barr and wife Brandy of Buckhannon, and Kayla Dailey and husband Nathan of Hamlin, WV. He was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren, Cierra Wamsley, Morgan Wamsley, Tucker Burr, Zoe Burr, Ava Ault, and Aspen Dailey; a son in law, Roger Hedrick of Riverton, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Guy was one of nine children and was the last member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by: 4 brothers, Russell Bland, Stanley Bland, Thurmond Bland, and infant brother, Teddy; and 4 sisters, Kate Bland, Ona Warner, Nola Harper, and Sudie Nelson.

Guy's family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2019, 4-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Perrine officiating. Interment will be in the Bland/Raines Family Cemetery on Guy Bland Road, Riverton. Memorial contributions may be made in Guy's honor to Burlington United Methodist Family Services.
