Hank Gaylen Moats , age 70, of Bridgewater, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab. He was born on April 6, 1955, in Moyers, WV, the son of the late Cameron Gilbert and Gladys Gertrude (Strother) Moats.

Hank was a 1974 graduate of Franklin High School and he attended Moats Chapel Church. Hank was a very talented man and loved playing the guitar, especially blues music. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and collecting guns. Hank was a Veteran of the US Navy, where he served as a Machinist Mate First Class.

Hank leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Jada Rasheeda Moats of Staunton, VA; a son, Jai Rasheed Moats of Staunton, VA; a sister, Clara Mae Johnson of Staunton, VA; 3 brothers, Otis Moats (Patty) of Staunton, VA, Clarence Moats of Franklin, WV, and Charles Whitney Moats (Faye) of Franklin, WV; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Floyd, Roscoe, Eldon (Cynthia); and 4 sisters, Loretha, Blanche, Geneva, and Ruby.

Hank's family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2026, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Homei n Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Johnny Cook officiating. Interment will be in the Cameron G.
