Harlen "Gene" Hose, age 76, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.  He was born on July 24, 1948, the son of the late Grover James and Myrtle Mary (Wilson) Hose.

Mr. Hose attended school in Moorefield, WV and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Known as "Little Bear" to anyone with a CB radio, Gene began driving a truck at the age of 16 and after putting in over 50 years and thousands of miles on the road, he finally retired.  He took great pride in his job, but his greatest accomplishments are the family he leaves behind.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gene is survived by: a daughter, Gina Hose Rohrbaugh (Rodney) of Maysville, WV; 3 sons, David Edward Hose (Brandi) of Petersburg, WV; Randy Allen Hose (Sonia) of Broadway, VA; Michael Eugene Davey of Moorefield, WV; 2 sisters, Joann Dove (Dale) of Mathias, WV; Penny Moton (Jake) of Mathias, WV; 2 brothers, Bobby Hose (Kitty) of Old Fields, WV; Andy Hose (Debra) of Old Fields, WV; 12 Grandchildren; and 5 Great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Teresa Kathryn Hose; 3 brothers, Marshall, John, and Marvin Hose; 5 sisters, infant Myrtle Hose,  infant Betty Lou Hose, Barbara See, Karen Carr, and Leona George.

Gene's family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 3-4 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Taylor officiating.  Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.  Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com
