Obituary

Harry Alonzo Redmond, age 44, of Keyser and formerly of Petersburg, WV entered Heaven’s Gates on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at the Rescare Homecare in Keyser, WV. He was born on October 10, 1982 in Elkins, WV, the son of Harry Lawrence and the late Joyce Esther (Berg) Redmond.

Harry was born with music in his heart and the biggest personality that touched everyone he met. He loved singing and listening to music, especially Ricky Skaggs, Diamond Rio, and Hank Williams. His favorite activity was singing and dancing with his family and friends at the group home. Harry also loved to watch “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Lex Luger wrestle, Batman, Spider-Man, and the Wizard of Oz. While at the group home, he looked forward to visits from Aunt Shirley, especially when she brought snacks.

After the death of his mother, Harry and his sister were raised by their grandmother, Opal Berg, who showered them with love. In 2004, he graduated from Greenville High School in Tennessee and later moved back to West Virginia. Harry never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends deeply and left this life peacefully with the same joy in his heart that he spread to others.

Harry is survived by: a sister, Paula Katherine Redmond of Maysville, WV; 2 nephews, Brandon Virts of Bryson City, NC; Isaiah Cheek of Greenville, TN; a niece, Zelma Cheek of Glen Rock, PA; a great niece; a great nephew; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Opal Berg.

Harry’s family will receive friends on Saturday, October 17, 2026, 12-1 PM, at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josh Miller officiating. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basgic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
