Harry Lee Temple, 82, of Brandywine, WV passed away May 17 at his cabin on Dickinson Mountain.
He was born November 9, 1939 at the Temple place in Oak Flat and was the son of the late Alva D, Temple and Mary Temple.
Harry Lee was a 1958 graduate of South Hagerstown High after attending primary school in Brandywine, WV and Hancock, MD. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army serving as a paratrooper with the 82 nd Airborne in Korea. Upon completion of his service, he began working at Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD, working 38 years until his retirement in 2001.
Upon retirement, Harry Lee returned to his native state and built a log cabin home on the old Hopteter place on Dickinson Mountain. He spent his retirement with his wife of over 57 years, Sandra Temple, enjoying their 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He remained active in the community volunteering with the Wounded Warrior program. He was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church, VFW post 9666 in Sugar Grove, The American Legion post 30 in Franklin, and the NWTF.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra Temple; daughter, Dana Temple of Waynesboro, PA; 2 sons, Harry Lee Temple II (Stephanie) of Katy, TX and Alton D. Temple (Amanda) of Cranberry, PA; 6 grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis, Bailey, Kaylynn, Morgan, and Carter; and one great grandchild, Astro.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, officiated by Pastor Mike Loudermilk with Military Honors conducted by Camp Dawson.
Should anyone desire to make a memorial donation to WV Wounded Warriors , Wild National Turkey Federation (Pendleton County Chapter), or Walnut Street United Methodist Church in remembrance of Harry Lee's life, the family welcomes the gesture.
