I vanell Mallow Thompson , age 79, of Riverton, WV, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV. She was born on January 1, 1944, at Riverton, WV, the daughter of the late Herbert Lester and Viola (White) Mallow. Ivanell was twice married. On February 2, 1961, she married Russell "Chub" Thompson, who preceded her in death on January 28, 1986. On December 5, 1987, she married Jack H. Thompson, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2015.

Ivanell attended Dixie Schoolhouse and was a homemaker. She was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church and attended Lighthouse Community Church. Ivanell loved traveling, gardening, canning, cooking and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ivanell leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Shirley Lea Warner of Circleville, WV; a son, Russell Lee Thompson (Peggy Hinkle) of Riverton, WV; 2 step daughters, Judith Lambert of Matthews, NC, Jacalyn Privette (Richard) of Indian Trail, NC; a step son, James Thompson of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Juanita Vandevander of Riverton, WV; 3 brothers, Delmar Mallow (Lucille) of Bartow, WV, Herbert Lee (Stacy) of Maysville, WV; Charles R. Mallow (Anna Marie) of Riverton, WV; 5 grandchildren, Kevin Ed, Erica N., Cody Lee, April D., and Billy Junior Thompson; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Tracy Lee Thompson; an infant brother; and 3 sisters, Arvella Kline, Mary Judy, and Freda Hedrick.

Ivanell's family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Bob Rexrode officiating.
