James J. Gildea , age 101, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born on December 3, 1917, in Coaldale, PA, the son of the late James H. and Genevieve (Gallagher) Gildea. Mr. Gildea married Mary "Myra" Stewart Riddel Gildea, who preceded him in death in 2012.

Mr. Gildea was a graduate of Coaldale High School and attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Franklin, WV. He was a member of the Civitan Club and Civil War Round Table. James enjoyed golfing, flying single engine planes, and volunteering for the Boy Scouts. He retired as a Mortgage Broker from Wells Fargo.

Mr. Gildea is survived by: a son, James R. Gildea and wife Carolyn of Franklin, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Stewart.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA, with Rev. Patrick Holroyd officiating. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
