James William Malcolm , age 80, of Circleville, WV, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on November 27, 1945, in Cherry Grove, WV, the son of the late Olin Faircloth and Hazel Bell (Arbogast) Malcolm. James was married to Anne Hope LaBonte, the mother of his daughter, who survives in Culpeper, VA.

James attended Circleville School and was a member of Big Run Presbyterian Church. He had worked at Inter-State Hardwoods. He had a passion for Westerns and particularly those starring John Wayne. James had a kind and thoughtful heart and loved helping others. His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to the mother of his daughter, James is survived by: a daughter, Holly Ann Riley (Richard) of Culpeper, VA; 2 granddaughters, Kaitlyn Owens and Rachael Riley; a great-grandson, Joseph Rucker; a sister, Susie Seal (Brian); and 2 brothers, Albert Malcolm and Delbert Malcolm (Lori). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Patsy Puffenbarger; and 2 brothers, Arnold and Bobby Malcolm.

James' family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025, 1-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the James Malcolm Cemetery in Cherry Grove, WV.
