Obituary

Jamie Lou (Thompson) DiMarco, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Blue Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, VA. She was born on March 28, 1944, in Winston Salem, NC, the daughter of the late Otto and Lucy (Willard) Cayton. On February 29, 1964, Jamie married Charles “Peanut” Thompson, the father of her children, who preceded her in death on September 27, 2010. On July 17, 2019, Jamie married Louis Anthony DiMarco, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2025.

Jamie was a hard worker and had been employed by Hanover Shoe Company, New Frontier Restaurant, and Thompson's Motel and Restaurant, before becoming co-owner of The Korner Shop in Franklin. She was a member of Christ Central Church in Upper Tract.

Jamie was a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend whose kindness and fortitude touched the lives of all who knew her. Throughout her 82 years, Jamie’s unwavering commitment to her family stood as the cornerstone of her life.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Julie Evick (Josh Hanna) of Franklin, WV; a son and Craig Thompson (Karen Carter) of Brandywine, WV; her grandchildren, Preston Evick (Elizabeth), Grant Evick (fiance Tiffany Perry), Natalie Evick, Justin Shreve (Marissa), Matthew Thompson (Kayla), Caitlyn Brackenrich (Justin), and Jacob Thompson; and 5 great-grandchildren and one expected. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by: a half sister, Shirley; and a foster sister, Polly Hoover.

Her family carries treasured memories of time spent together, reflecting Jamie’s boundless love, leadership and wisdom with immense strength while enduring rheumatoid arthritis for most of her adult life.

Jamie's legacy is evident in the lives of her children and grandchildren, the values she instilled, and the love she freely gave. Jamie’s role as a grandmother was a source of immense joy to her and her passion was spending time with her family and friends.

In honoring Jamie's wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to: any Pendleton County Volunteer Rescue Squad or Pendleton Senior and Family Services. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
