Jaunita Virginia Berg, age 82, of Petersburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg. Ms. Berg was born on November 29, 1943 on Jordan Run, WV, the daughter of the late Demby Noah and Noralena Jane (Heavner) Berg.

Ms. Berg was a 1962 graduate of Petersburg High School and was a member of the Jordan Run Union Church. After graduation, Jaunita moved to Baltimore for a year where she worked in an office before returning to her hometown. Back in Grant County, she managed a dollar store for several years, worked at Rudy’s Clothing Store, a local sewing plant, and her final job was at Pilgrim’s Pride, where she retired after 17 years of service. Jaunita enjoyed working outdoors in the yard and in her flower garden. She had quite the “green thumb” and would often stop just to smell the flowers and enjoy their beauty. She also loved to travel. Jaunita would take her mom to visit her sister and family in Ohio then alternate trips to Myrtle Beach, SC or to Pigeon Forge, TN. Another favorite activity was going to gospel sings around the area with her cousin, Twila Berg. Jaunita loved spending time with her family and her new family at the GRCC. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jaunita leaves behind to cherish her memory: 2 sisters, Judy Belle Barger of Petersburg, WV; Nancy Kimble (Lloyd “Sonny) of Grove City, OH; and a brother, Stoney Berg (Bernita) of Jordan Run, WV. She was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Teddy, Danny, Paul Berg and a sister, Peggy Earle.

Ms. Berg’s family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2026, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Rick Bergdoll and Shannon Earle officiating. Interment will be at the Berg Family Cemetery on Jordan Run.
