Obituary

Jeffery Wayne Golden, 75, of Idamay, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Pendleton Manor, in Franklin, WV. Jeffery was born February 17, 1947, a son of Henry B. and Blanche M. Golden of Idamay.

In addition to his parents, Jeffery is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Deborah Lee (Coughenour) Golden; son Joseph Golden; and brothers Greg Golden and Leonard Golden.

He is survived by daughters Sherri (Golden) Ingraham and husband David of Walden, New York; Jennifer (Golden) Jones and her husband Pete of Cocoa, Florida; sister Kim Golden Close and her husband Michael (Bear) of Fairmont.

Jeff (Butch) was a coal miner for over 45 years. He worked at several mines, including Robinson Run, Loveridge, and Mingo Logan Coal Company, from which he retired in 2013. He achieved many accomplishments during his career, including becoming a certified mining electrician, and he earned many accolades for mine safety.

His greatest joys were his wife and daughters. Jeff and Debbie loved animals, especially cats, and made their home a safe place for many stray cats that they not only fed, but made sure they had proper veterinary care. He loved to travel and vacation with his family in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. He loved theme parks and roller coasters. Later, he enjoyed traveling to New York and Florida to visit his daughters. Jeff had many talents, including being a great joke teller and he never missed an opportunity to tell a joke to anyone, anywhere, any time. He loved meeting people and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Jeff's family would like to thank the staff at Pendleton Manor for his care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local humane society or the American Stroke Association.
