Jimmy Paul Thorne, age 57, of Moorefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.  He was born on March 23, 1968 in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late David Paul Thorne and Eva Jean (Whetzel) Thorne of Baker, WV.  Jimmy was previously married to the mother of his children, Crystal VanMeter.

Mr. Thorne attended Petersburg High School and was well-known as a highly skilled auto mechanic and carpenter.  With his excellent woodworking abilities, he remodeled his own home by hand. Jimmy was Pentecostal in faith and traveled to many churches as an evangelistic minister.  He also enjoyed the outdoors, going camping, and spending time with his family.

Jimmy is survived by: 2 daughters, Samantha Christelle Miller (Terry) of Rig, WV; Katylin Elaina-Jean Thorne of Harrisonburg, VA; a son, Emmanuel Irvin Thorne of Petersburg, WV; an adopted son, Johnathan Phillips (Holly) of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Debra Riggleman of Morgantown, WV; and 10 Grandchildren.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Edward Thorne.

Jimmy's family will have a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Moorefield, WV at the Charity Baptist Church with Pastor Daryl Dunsmore officiating.
